We’re your neighbors, the local group chartered by the National Grange. The Grange is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 1867 to support farm families and provide a voice for rural Americans. We were first organized in 1908, and as we grew we acquired land for our building and completed our Grange Hall in 1925. Back then the population of Warwick was centered around two different industries – the textile mills on the west side of the Pawtuxet river, and the farmers living and working in the eastern portion of the town.
By the 1950’s the textile industry had left Warwick (as well as the rest of New England), and the farmland was yielding to the growth needed to satisfy the post-war housing boom.
As our community became less focused on farming, our emphasis shifted to strengthening individuals, families and our community through grassroots action, service, education, advocacy, and agricultural awareness.
We’d love to tell you about the exciting opportunities the Grange offers. We meet from September to June on the third Wednesday of each month, starting at 7:30PM. Our meetings are always open to the public.
